Nvt3l — The Reintroduction

_Can you introduce yourself to our readers?

Well please allow me to reintroduce myself. My name is Nathaniel Hewitt and more popularly known as Natel / Nvt3l. I’m a reggae singer, songwriter and producer with a dancehall heart from St. Ann, Jamaica. Music has been my calling since birth and my biggest influences are my parents.

Since 2006 , from your introduction to this Reintroduction, […], what can you tell us about all your different experiences ?

All these experiences brought me closer to understanding who I truly am as a musician but most importantly as a person. Each year of my life is another chapter. A continuation of my journey of becoming that success story I dreamt of when I was only a 13 year old bass player in my father’s band. Being multifaceted happened in various stages of my career when i felt like my back was against the wall, so i don’t have anything bad to mention. I’m just grateful to be able to do what I love for so many years and having my supporters ears on every song release.

_What make you decide to go back in studio and offer us this series of plenty good tracks […]?

The fans. Everyday I’m receiving direct messages and comments on my social media accounts from supporters telling me how much I keep them going. What they don’t know is how motivated that makes me or maybe they do, but just like every other artist it feels amazing to know that I have listeners who really appreciates my music. Before I leave this earth I want to make sure I leave more than enough music for my Tellogyang.

Go to listen this growing legacy there ! 🎶

_Why Natel becomes Nvt3l ?

It was a conscious decision to change the spelling of my name to Nvt3l for marketing reasons. The pronunciation remains the same. Nvt3l is a great musician and i want to make sure that wherever in the world you discover my music I’ll be an easy search on google, yahoo or any other search engine sites available.

To be found on Internet can be a real challenge — Nvt3l make it well

_ Can you tell us something about your team, the backside of this new Natel production, the key actors in your production process?

My team is comprised of a small group of talented musicians I am blessed to also call friends. However, I’ve been doing most of the productions exclusively since 2016 from composition to mastering, but occasionally I reach out to Romel Marshall for his interpretation of mixes and masters, my father Correl Hewitt for his guitar mastery, Jay Psar for productions, Mikie Bennett, Jordan Williams and Darrio Morgan just to name a few. There is also a short list of friends for their attentive listening and honest feedback before each song is released. Natel Music Records would not be able to release music in a consistent manner if not for each and every one of these key team players.

_[…]How do you choose the artist you want to sing with?

I like to think of music as art where every artist is a different colour paint. From the darkest shades of colours to the lightest tints can help to make a masterpiece. Even though each colour can stand strongly on it’s own a collaboration helps to bring more depth and details to the stories we try to tell with our artwork. The unification of various musicians does the same thing. For me it works better when it’s organic, so I want to see the vision or try to connect with who i collaborate with but sometimes it’s just business based on how fast things are happening nowadays. Every artist is unique and I appreciate what they all have to offer regardless of how famous they are or how new they are to the industry. Sometimes all it takes is giving them a listen.

From Reggae to Dancehall, from the early 2000’s to now, how do you do to have your style and flow still on fleek year after year?

First of all, thank you. I really appreciate that compliment. My style and flow is connected to who I am as a person. I enjoy being original and because of that most of my efforts goes into coming up with creative and unique ways to express myself. Keeping it fresh is therapeutic for me and that could possibly be what you are hearing when you listen to my songs. Being able to follow directions with an open mind also paid off tremendously since I’ve learnt a lot from having the privilege of being in the company of great ones such as my father (Correl Hewitt), Mikie Bennett, Dean Fraser just to name a few. Still, I am a work in progress and I enjoy being a student of music. My dream is to keep you listening for a very long time.

_About Jamaica, […], what do you think you can’t find anywhere else than there, artistically speaking?

Jamaica is home for me. I’ve been in many countries that came close to the energy that Jamaica has but for me personally, as the famous quote stated “Home is where the heart is”. Besides that cliche there are beaches, Hotels, People, food, inspirations and culture everywhere we go in the world, but a different kind of magic happens when any musician or any one for that matter set foot on the island of Jamaica that you’d just have to experience for yourself. My creative juices are most potent when I am in an environment that’s comfortable and free and so far Jamaica is that emancipation for me.

_As a Caribbean artist, we heard you on a reggaeton instrumental, what are the other caribbean music that you appreciate?

When I travel to these beautiful countries I’m blessed with so much more gems to add to my heart’s collection of experiences. Apart from the people, food, sceneries and the various cultures of the Caribbean I enjoy the different genres they’ve produced. Some of my favorites apart from Reggae, Reggaeton, Ska, Rocksteady and Dancehall of course is Soca from Trinidad & Tobago, Zouk that I fell in love with when i was in Martinique (I even learnt the dance) and Salsa that I enjoyed in South American countries. I’m sure there are others as well but I’ll have to work on remembering their names.

_Can you give us your top 3 Caribbean islands and the reason of their position in your ranking? And what island you never go and would like to reach?

This is the hardest question I have to answer so far, because I’ve left a piece of my heart in all the Caribbean countries that I’ve visited. The most recent Caribbean country I’ve been to was Dominica though, so since it’s the freshest in my mind I’ll make it number one on this list. Dominica is also where we shot one of my recent music videos as well for my song “Wake Up”. Apart from that, the beauty of the island felt like a dream you’d try to rejoin after waking up (No pun intended). Number 2 on my list is Trinidad & Tobago. It’s the Caribbean island I’ve traveled to the most, so over time i made friends who became family there. The first island I’ve performed was Martinique, so this place just had to make my list. The show was amazing because of the people’s awesome appreciation of music and I will forever hold Martinique dear to my heart for their warm welcome in 2008.

There are so many Caribbean islands that I’d love to visit. I’m seeing them represent in my analytics weekly for streaming my music. Places like Bermuda, Bahamas and Costa Rica just to name the top 3 this week. In the near future I want to be there to sing for my people and tell them in person how much I appreciate each and every one of them for the support.
